UTSA got ahead of .500 in their volleyball season as they managed a four set win over UT Arlington in Arlington for the Hilton Mavericks Classic on Friday night.
McKenzie Adams was again the star for the Roadrunners as she managed 24 kills and 13 digs for yet another double-double while Dajana Boskovic and Dempsey Thornton both managed 10 winners through the match.
Adams impressed from the very start managing a .400 hitting percentage with six kills and seven digs as UTSA cruised to a 25-16 win in the opening set.
Jessica Waldrip proved crucial to the Roadrunners in that first set as she managed 15 assists, almost half of her match-high 31 as UTSA dominated the first, hitting at .293 and restricting UT Arlington to .071.
The Mavericks bounced right back in the second running out to a 7-1 lead only for UTSA to come back gradually and make it 20-19 in the Roadrunners favor. That was where the steam ran out as UT Arlington scored five of the last six to make it 1-1.
The third started closely with the score level at 10 before UTSA used an 8-1 run to control the set and the match as they cruised to a 25-15 lead.
Brandy Huskey was impressive in the final set as she managed 10 assists to lead UTSA to win the set and the match with a 25-20 win.
