UTSA ended the Texas A&M softball invitational on a successful note as they managed a 2-1 win over Purdue on Sunday afternoon.
Haylee Stanton was in the circle for UTSA and she earned her third win of the week, although her scoreless innings streak came to an end at 20 as Purdue opened the scoring through a one out single to Danielle Fletcher in the first.
UTSA came back in the second inning with Megan Low leading off the second with a solo shot to left field after working well with a full count and blasting the seventh out pf tje park.
It was a defensive battle for almost the entire game as the Roadrunners took the lead in the sixth inning.
A single up the middle from Darian Blake, ending Lilly Fecho's effort after five complete innings. Alex Whittemore came on to the circle and had a poor start with a wild pitch allowing Blake to advance.
A fielder's choice was a bright not for Purdue but Whittemore's poor run continued as she hit Sierra Sproul which loaded the bases.
Lexy Moore was then brought on after Whittemore couldn't complete the innings, resulting in another fielder's choice with a put-out at home.
Joelene Graham was next up to the plate, and she was able to hit a single to left which brought the runner home and collect her fifth RBI of the year.
Purdue looked to force extras in the seventh bringing in Kristin Morgan as a pinch hitter to open the inning she hit a double to second before a bunt advanced pinch runner MaryBeth Pavlick.
A fly out was unable to advance the runner before UTSA loaded up the bases but Lindsey Rains couldn't find the single needed to level the game as she flied out to center.
