A Utah Head Start teacher was shot to death in a parking lot on Friday afternoon. Tetyana Nikitina, 34, was shot and killed Friday as she left the Salt Lake Community Action Program Head Start in Millcreek. Nikitina was a single mother of two who lived in Taylorsville, and was an Assistant pre-school teacher at the Head Start program for two years. Nikitina got into her car when the suspect fired a gun several times at her. The police called the shooting “very bizarre.”
Police say they have Mary Nancy Hanson, a 70-year-old woman in custody as a suspect in the shooting, and that the suspect knew the victim, but they are unsure of the details of the relationship. According to police, Mary Nancy Hanson called 911 and told the operator that she shot the victim. Police were unable to determine if the suspect was mentally ill.
The shooting took place at the Salt Lake Head Start School at 336 East and 3900 South. Nikitina was taken to Intermountain Medical Center but didn’t survive.
Police said that there weren’t any witnesses, but several people heard the shots and were in the parking lot just seconds after the gun was fired. And that the suspect said, “It's me, I shot her.”
The police said that the suspect brought ammunition to reload the gun.

You THINK the supect MIGHT be mentally ill, it doesn't take a couselor to figure that one out. But hey no government money to open up mental hospitals anymore, just give it to car dealers. A single mother two young chidren with no mom to care for them, who is going to tell them who is going to love them like mom did. These kids have a long life to deal with this tragdy, but the supect a 70 year old woman, goes to jail it;s warm and she eats. Goes to trail and spends rest of her life in prison, this is so unjustified. So sad for the children.
This old B***h is the victim's ex-mother-in-law. She shot this young mother of 2 children in hopes that her son, an abusive ex-husband and father, would then be given the children. I highly doubt that will happen. If his mother is this crazy, then her son is probable twice as bad. Now the children have no mother, a father that beat them, and an insane, horrible grandmother who is a murderer. These poor babies deserve so much better.
