On Tuesday, March 11 multiple sources reported that Smith, a wide receiver with the Carolina Panthers since joining the league, may soon be headed to the Baltimore Ravens -- if he isn’t first released by the Panthers.
In a move that many anticipated was drawing near, Panthers GM Steve Gettleman told the Charlotte Observer Tuesday that Smith’s time in Carolina has likely come to an end.
“Steve’s had a great career. He really has,” Gettleman said. “None of us are here forever. But that’s not to say – he’s part of the evaluation process. That’s just the way it is.”
So while Gettleman didn’t outright say Smith was leaving Carolina -- the writing does seem to be on the wall.
Beadles -- who undoubtedly helped his cause by becoming a public figure after an appearance on Ellen earlier this season and protecting Peyton Manning during it -- will sign a five-year, $30 million deal with the Jaguars according to the Denver Post.
That’s a quantum leap from the league-minimum $630,000 Beadles made as a member of the Broncos. And that’s 4.4 million more reasons to start dancing.
