The University of Texas at Arlington’s Multicultural Affairs (UTAMCA) and the UTA African-American Alumni Association celebrates Black History Month with a presentation of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. at the UC Rosebud Theatre.
The performance features the phenomenal contemporary modern dance company, which was founded in 1976 by artistic director Ann Williams. The ensemble company is celebrating its 35th anniversary season and features a Cultural Awareness Series slated to begin on February 23, 2012. “Whether it’s through the remarkable dancing, the powerful choreography, audiences will leave inspired,” says Cheryl Callon of TheaterJones.com. If you have yet to see this outstanding dance ensemble perform, this is a perfect opportunity to witness the impactful effect of dance on African-American culture.
As part of the evening, UTA’s MCA will host a raffle where all proceeds will benefit the University of Texas at Arlington African-American Endowed Scholarship Fund.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact UTAMCA at (817) 272-2099.
