USPS Rate Changes Will Effect eBay Sellers

eBay has issued an announcement to remind all sellers that an upcoming rate change from the United States Postal Service will take effect on January 22, 2012.  This increase will affect anyone who uses the USPS to ship packages.  The rate change will cover all levels of service – First Class, Priority Mail, and Express Mail. For example, the shipping fee for the medium flat rate Priority Mail box will increase from $10.95 to $11.35.

eBay will be updating its eBay Labels and PayPal Labels to reflect the new costs. Prices will be adjusted for other Shipping Services products and services, including Parcel Select, Parcel Return Service, International Mail, Premium Forwarding Service and Post Office Box Service.  For more details about the rate changes, click here to view all changes announced by the USPS.

USPS will begin extending free Delivery Confirmation to First-Class Mail to sellers who use eBay Labels.

In the same eBay announcement, the site reminded sellers that it is necessary to upload tracking information to receive the automatic 5-star, fast shipping rating.  On its policy page, eBay also states, "If Delivery Confirmation or tracking information shows the item was delivered, an eBay Buyer Protection case for item not received can't be opened."
