USPS clothing line: Attempt to generate revenue while dressing the masses

The U.S. Postal Service has seen a decline in revenue, so to make up for shortcomings they’re going into the clothing business. A new line of clothes aimed at men is in the works, as the U.S. Post Office has partnered up with a Cleveland based fashion apparel company, according to NBC News on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013.

The new line of apparel and accessories called, “Rain, Heat and Snow,” will hopefully entice the masses to look to the USPS for more than just stamps. The USPS is hoping the clothing line will bring in more revenue during a time they really need to generate some money. The Wahconah Group, who will be creating the line of apparel, will start off with clothes and accessories for men, with a woman’s line planned for the future.

Apparently the USPS cutting Saturday’s mail delivery in hopes of saving money isn’t all they had up their sleeve for generating some funds. After posting a $1.3 billion quarterly loss earlier this month, it sounds as if it is going to take more than an all-weather-wear clothing line to fix the money problem for USPS, but it’s a start!
