USPS changes on January 27 will affect eBay sellers

The United Postal Service recently published a number of changes that will become effective on January 27, 2013. (See the complete list here.) Price changes will force many eBay sellers to raise their prices on products and or shipping fees and pass the cost on to eBay buyers. In a nutshell, the changes are:

Domestic Services changes:

Price increases on domestic services including Express Mail, Priority Mail, and Parcel Select (which will replace Parcel Post.)

Price increase for signature confirmation.

Parcel Post will be discontinued and replaced by a similar service in March. (Learn about this change and strategies to handle requests for Parcel Post class in the meantime.)

International changes:

New Delivery Confirmation service. Electronic version included at no charge to certain destinations.

First Class International changes to First Class Package Service. This service replaces FCI and will be available on the eBay shipping workflow and the Shipping Calculator on January 27.

Changes on flat rate envelopes and small flat rate boxes.
