Most readers have heard that mail will no longer be delivered according to the schedule announced by the United States Postal Service.
Many are unconcerned about Saturday mail delivery ending in August, 2013. The cuts will be to residential areas. Post Office boxes will still have mail and most office locations will remain open. Packages and medications will continue to be delivered on Saturdays.
When the United States Postal Service announced Saturday mail delivery would be ending on August 5, 2013, many did not seem surprised.
The average person seems to be accepting of the idea that certain mail will not be delivered on Saturdays. People this writer spoke to in the Charlotte area claimed they were fine with not having mail interrupt their weekend.
Some have predicted that the USPS will not save money. These groups feel the United States Postal Service will lose some customers to UPS or Fed-Ex.
Time will tell if dropping Saturday mail service in the manner they have outlined will help the United States Post Office, or create more financial difficulties.
