USM women win big at Husson

BANGOR- Erin McNamara scored 29 points to lead the University of Southern Maine (USM) Huskies women's basketball team to a 74-46 victory over the Husson University Eagles on Tuesday evening.

Mariah Callender gave the Huskies a 6-4 lead with 17 minutes left in the first half. USM (7-5) will hold the lead the rest of the way.

Gretchen Anderson added 14 points for the Huskies. Callender and Megan Pelletier (Messalonskee) chipped in with seven points each.

Freshman Jordan Knowlton (Camden Hills) scored five and pulled down five rebounds in 14 minutes for the Huskies.

Taylor Hawkins (Mattanawcook) scored four points in nine minutes.

Rebecaa Young led the Eagles with 10 points.

Samira Cruz chipped in with eight points. Chandler Guerrette and Kelsea Bouchard added six points each.

The Eagles have lost four straight, and five of their last six games.

Husson (3-6/2-2) will get back to conference play when they travel to Maine Maritime on Saturday.
