The University School of Milwaukee Wildcats completed their two game Minnesota tour as Nicole Unsworth's hat trick helped shut out the St. Louis Park Orioles 3-0 in their final regular season home game Saturday afternoon at The Rec Center.
Friday night, the Wildcats played at the Richfield Ice Arena and beat the Holy Angels Stars, 4-1.
Now to Saturday's game. Unsworth scored the first period's lone goal after she got a pass from Nina Anderson and scored from the center slot.
Unsworth, one of six freshman for USM, would tally twice in the second period. Her first goal came on the power play after she received a pass from Rose Revolinski. St. Louis Park would have a five on three opportunity for :59 seconds but they weren't able to get the puck past Wildcat goalie Jamie Hathaway. USM would wrap up the scoring when Unsworth went two on one and headed down the ice like the team bus heading down I-94 and she would get the hat trick on an unassisted short handed goal. Both teams didn't score in the third period.
Wildcat head coach Jason Wood stated the difference between the Wisconsin and Minnesota styles of hockey.
"Depth is the dictating factor in the style of play." He also mentioned that whereas his team plays two, two and a half lines, Minnesota schools play three or four.
USM improved their record to 15-2-2 and returns to The Badger State next Saturday, February 1 to host Middleton in a 7 PM game at Uihlein Ice Arena. St. Louis Park fell to 3-19-1 and wraps up the regular season next week with a pair of road games. The first is next Tuesday, January 28 against the Princeton Tigers at 7:15 at The Princeton Ice Arena. They will close out the regular season on Saturday, February 1 with a 3 PM game against the Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony Panthers at Fogerty Arena in Blaine.
