Using scarce space more efficiently (Photos)

I saw this on a Facebook post and immediately saw it as a Prepper device. One of the challenges that preppers may face is stowing stuff in a tight spot.

Just look at this storage system and it may give you ideas. Every stair step is potentially a drawer. All “underneath” space is potentially storage, including crawl spaces.

I already have an “Oyster bed” with three sliding drawers on each side underneath the bed. That is tremendous space for storing seasonal wear, for instance.

Nesting tables is a very old idea, but now, “green designers” give it new birth.

Preppers need to ensure maximum use on limited resources and this thinking is the correct application of that idea.

“GOING GREEN

We can't speak highly enough of these appealing and versatile storage pieces. Each wood chest opens via a safety-hinged lid to offer storage for things big and small. Tuck the chests under one another to save space or separate them to put their surfaces to good use—the top two chests work perfectly as side tables, while the smallest chest doubles as a step stool.

Anything that stacks and swivels, creating a usable top and accessible storage in a slender and small footprint can be a useful solution.

SWIVEL & STORE

Though storing odds and ends in a junk drawer is easy, finding them again is another story. This steel-constructed tower provides a better solution: Five bins swivel open to hold the small stuff and spin back into the unit to take up minimal space. Large enough to hold standard-size sheets of paper, each of these bins features a peephole for an easy reminder of what's inside. Junk drawers, your disorderly days are numbered.

“TABLE EXPANSION

For small-space entertaining, a functional table is key. This versatile version seats six people when fully extended or a cozy three with one wing open. It also folds down to a compact 12 inches to serve as a narrow sideboard. Regardless of the wings' positioning, the table's center drawers are always accessible and provide handy storage for linens and candles.”
