Usher is off to a great year in 2013. After a rough 2012 with the loss of his former stepson and a bitter divorce, Usher will be joining NBC's "The Voice" to replace CeeLo Green. He says that he and the coaches on the voice have had a great time working together on the show.
While talking to NBC's "Dateline" on January 6, 2013, Usher said the commercial where the cast sing the rock hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart" shows people just how much fun they can have together. But then he said, "Sometimes we get along, and then we don't." This can only be true where extra-large personalities are all in the same room together. Each of the judges/coaches is a star singer/songwriter in their own right. Each have won multiple awards and each definitely has earned the right to have a say.
Usher is no stranger to competition shows. Some might recall a little show called "Star Search" which captivated American audiences in the 1980s and 1990s. A very young 13 year old Usher won the singing competition. Quite a few young stars appeared on the show without winning including Sinbad, Tiffany, Brittany Spears, Alannis Morissette , Beyonce, Rosie O'Donnell, Save Chappelle, Drew Carey, Martin Lawrence, Christina Aguilera, Aaliyah, and Justin Timberlake.
Shakira also joins the cast to replace Christina Aguilera. Blake Shelton and Adam Levine remain on the cast. You can see video of other young stars on Star Search here. Season 4 of "The Voice" premieres on March 26, 2013.
