Use keywords in your resume to get recruiters to notice

Let’s face it, the job market is tough. There are so many people that are submitting their resumes to job boards trying to get their qualifications noticed by employers for the chance of landing the position of their dreams. This is no easy task because recruiters are using tools to perform searches against a resume database to find the perfect candidate for a position. This is one of the central methods that recruiters use in going through the millions of resumes that are located on Monster, LinkedIn, Dice, and others to find their candidate. Recruiters are under a lot of pressure from corporate and hiring managers for finding the candidate that can do the job and add value to the organization. Remember, recruiters want to find a candidate like you and place you into their company. They just need a little help in getting introduced to you and your resume.

This is why keywords are very important when you are drafting your resume.
Most people are not aware of how keywords or industry buzz words are very important to record in your resume. Sure, documenting your experience is important but you need to do a bit more than that to get your resume noticed. When you add buzz words to your resume, make sure that they apply to the work that you perform and in the industry which you support. For example, if you work with software products such as Salesforce.com then make sure to add the following key words: cloud computing, Salesforce.com, software as a service to your resume. When a recruiter gets the requirement for a candidate that needs to have experience in cloud computing then they just need to type in the cloud computing key word to get your resume to come up in the result set of their search.

Keywords are important and try to use as many buzz words that are appropriate for your position. You do not want to do too much that it looks obvious that you are just filling up your resume with keywords and you do not want to do to little so that your resume does not show up in results. You need to use your best judgment to know how many keywords are appropriate for your resume. The job market is very competitive and you need to use all the tools that are available to you for you to land your next big position.
