The course starts at Blantyre, North Carolina, and continues downstream to the Westfield River Park. This stretch is a terrific venue for paddling racing. The course has good views of Pisgah National Forest, but is easily accessible.

The Henderson County Parks and Recreation Department maintain both the Blantyre access and the Westfield River Park. The finish at Westfield is within sight of the Asheville Regional Airport. Five (5) highway bridges cross the course between the start and finish, allowing many opportunities for spectators.

Entry Fees: Entry fee will be $25.00 per paddler for adults and $10.00 per paddler for youths. Entry forms will be available in March. USCA membership is required. While we will accept entries up to the morning of the event, it would really help us a lot if you could send them early. See the information on the entry from itself by following the link above or clicking here.

According to Tom Blue of the FB Paddle Racing, Inc., “The day after USCA's National Stock Aluminum Canoe/Downriver Kayak Marathon Championships, FB Paddle Racing will host a Pro Boat Race on the French Broad River. The course will be out and back, starting at the finish line for the Nationals at Westfield River Park near the Asheville, NC airport and going upstream (at first) to the turn at the Kings Bridge (Highway 191).”

However, “The distance is about nine (9) miles at normal water levels and should take around one and a half hours. For a map of the course, CLICK HERE. Registration will be conducted the evening before and morning of (see below), but PLEASE send us an e-mail to let us know if you will be coming; that will really help. Thanks.”

Awards / dinner: All USCA awards is Saturday night at the awards barbecue. While the location is yet to be determined, we are hopeful that the facilities for the new Sierra Nevada brewery, currently under construction within a half mile of the finish line, will be available for use. If not, there are plenty of other options and the information, once available, will be on the web site,
