USC fires coach Frank Cruz for violating NCAA rules. The University of Southern California in Los Angeles terminated Cruz's employment after he allegedly disregarded the guidelines on limits on practice time and organized team activities, reported Yahoo! News. The announcement was made on Wed., Feb. 13, 2013.

Pat Haden, the University of Southern California Trojans athletic director, explained the importance of following NCAA rules when he announced the news that USC fired coach Cruz. Haden said, ''Adhering to all NCAA rules is paramount for each one of our coaches, student-athletes and staff members. Those who knowingly break NCAA rules are subject to termination.''

After USC fired coach Cruz, associate head coach Dan Hubbs received a promotion. Hubbs will lead the team as head coach.

As of today, the University of Southern California has still not updated their staff directory to reflect the recent changes. Frank Cruz is still listed as head baseball coach on the directory. Dan Hubbs is listed as assistant baseball coach.
