USAT Coach Andrea Hirth joins Pleasant Prairie RecPlex

USA Triathlon Coach Andrea Hirth has joined the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie. She will be focusing on intermediate and advanced triathletes, in both group training and individual training plans.

Hirth, of Vision Multi-Sport, began triathlons in 2003 in sweats and on a mountain bike, and subsequently progressed to several top-10 age group finishes and selection to the 2012 USAT Age Group Olympic Distance National Championship. In 2011 she became certified as a USA Triathlon Level 1 coach.

BYOB+T - Bring your own bike + trainer. Designed for both triathletes and road cyclists, the class is designed to eliminate the boredom of indoor training by working out in a group. Participants should, as the class title says, bring their own bike & stationary trainer.

  • Sundays, 7:30-8:30am.
  • Class meets January 27; February 10 & 24; March 3 & 17; April 7 & 14.
  • Fee: $69 for RecPlex members, $79 for non-members. One day drop-in fee is $10 for members, $15 for non-members.

Post Morning Taxi Tri Training. After dropping off the kids at school , get in some training time for yourself. Monthly Sessions runs February – May. 3 days, 3 options: Swim, Bike, Run. Pick 1, 2 or all 3 sessions. Register by the month: 1 sport - $39/$49 per month; 2 sports - $69/$89 per month; 3 sports - $99/$129 per month (RecPlex member/non-member fees). The February training dates are:

  • Swim – Tuesdays, 9:30-10:30 am, February 5-26
  • Bike - Wednesdays - 9:30-10:30 am, February 6-27
  • Run - Thursdays - 9:30-10:30 am, February 7-28.

Intermediate-Advanced TRI Training. Looking to take your triathlon training to the next level? The only way to get there is by developing proper mechanics and increased efficiency. Carefully planned out training strategies in each discipline will allow you to incorporate drills and speed intervals for improved mechanics, endurance and faster pace. Register by the month, for swim, bike, or run – or all 3. Fee: 1 Sport $39/$49 per month, 2 Sports $69/$89 per month, 3 Sports $99/$129 per month (RecPlex member/non-member). February training dates:

  • Bike - Mondays, 6:15-7:15pm, Feb 4-25
  • Run - Tuesdays, 6:15-7:15pm, Feb 5-26
  • Swim – Thursdays, 7-8pm, February 7-2

Tri Brick Sessions. If after those 3 days a week, you’re still craving more, attend the Saturday “Brick” session every other week. The Brick sessions will alternate between swim+bike and bike+run.

  • Saturdays, 7:00-8:30 am.
  • Class meets February 2 & 16; March 2, 16, and 30; April 13.
  • Fee: $75 for RecPlex members, $85 for non-members. One day drop-in fee is $10 for members, $15 for non-members.

Hirth joins USAT Coach Ken Johnson, who has been coaching at the RecPlex since 2004. Johnson specializes in beginner and intermediate triathletes training for the Pleasant Prairie and Danskin triathlons, run training, and open water swimming.

The RecPlex is located at 9900 Terwall Terrace, in Pleasant Prairie, WI. It is approximately 1.5 miles east of I-94, off Hwy 165, just north of the Illinois-Wisconsin state line.
