According to Yahoo Sports on Feb. 9, Olympic champion Usain Bolt has not started out the 2013 competitive year strong. In the Jamaican Olympic Athletic Trials, his first race ended with Usain Bolt beaten by Yohan Blake and Warren Weir.
Both Blake and Weir are Bolt's training partners, and Bolt ended up third in the low-key 400 meter event. Weir set a career-record with a 46.21 second time in the race, while Blake finished at 46.64. Bolt won the 200-meter final at the London Olympics last summer.
The season opener took place in his hometown of Kingston.
Bolt said after the race that he was happy about the event, and was nervous running the 400-meter. He said his entire goal on the day was to just finish the race and he will run one or maybe two more this season. Bolt holds the world record in the 100 and 200 sprints and he only runs the 400 at the start of seasons to build his endurance.
With Usain Bolt beaten in his first race, he can now put that behind him and turn his attention to the world championships in Moscow later this year.
