According to Nick Zaccardi of NBC Sports, the United States defeated Canada by a score of 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday from the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Hilary Knight scored the lone goal for the United States in the shootout, as she beat Canadian goaltender Charline Labonte.

The United States have won the last three contests in their exhibition series against Canada, but the Canadians clearly were able to generate a swing of momentum in the game. The Americans were the better team in the opening forty minutes, but the Canadians had a strong third period as they battled strong to tie the contest at two goals apiece.

The United States were still without their top player, Amanda Kessel, who is out with a lower body injury. The Canadians meanwhile had a healthy offensive lineup as Hayley Wickenheiser and Marie-Philip Poulin returned from lower body injuries.Poulin in fact scored one of Canada's goals.

Canada will play the United States one final time before the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. That game will take place Monday night in Toronto. The Americans have now won three of the five games in the series.
