USA Film Festival has outdone themselves for the 30th anniversary of KidFilm by offering free admittance and a fantastic line-up of new releases as well as classics. According to information released today, they will be saluting favored children's book authors and celebrating magical creatures and four-legged friends and will take place on Saturday, January, 25 and Sunday, January 26.

KidFilm is the oldest and largest children's film festival in the United States and is an annual outreach program for the Dallas-based USA Film Festival.

Highlights from the 30th annual KidFilm include:

  • Tribute to children's book authors/illustrators Rebecca Emberley and Ed Emberley who will be in attendance in person and have free copies of their latest book, The Crocodile and the Scorpion to distribute during the screening. The Emberley's will also sign books for the audience. Some of their books that have been adapted to the big screen include Chicken Little, The Ant and the Grasshopper, and The Red Hen in addition to Mr. Emberley's Caldecott Medal-winning Drummer Hoff.
  • The critically acclaimed French film Ernest & Celestine which will be presented in English and features the voices of Paul Giamatti, William H. Macy, Megan Mullally, Nick Offereman, and Forest Whitaker.
  • Australian film Khumba featuring the voices of Liam Neeson, Steve Buscemi, and Laurence Fishburne.
  • Presentation of The LEGO Movie in 3D featuring the voices of Will Ferrell, Chris Patt, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, and Elizabeth Banks.

A fantastic KidFilm Classic will be the 35th anniversary screening of The Muppet Movie.

Local filmmakers will be included with the films Abner the Invisible Dog from Andrew Stevens and My Dog the Champion from Farah White.

In order to secure free tickets:

  • Viewers are encouraged to arrive early on the day of screening as seated is limited.
  • Tickets are available on the day of show only.
  • Tickets are available one-hour before showtime.
  • All tickets will be available at the KidFilm box office which is upstairs at teh Angelika Film Center Dallas.
