Two senior officials in the US Taxpayers Party of Michigan, the Michigan affiliate of the national Constitution Party, told Oakland County Independent Examiner Saturday, September 18th that divisions are sharpening among State Central Committee members. In the ongoing fallout from how Bill Mohr, State Central Committee Chairman, is managing the Stacey Mathia scandal, party officials revealed they have seen a photograph of Mathia, the party’s candidate for governor of Michigan, at the Saranac nudist camp.
On July 10, 2010, gubernatorial candidate Stacey Mathia reportedly joined activities at the Saranac, Michigan nudist community. Showing intimate familiarity with nudists, she chose July 10 because the AANR (American Association for Nude Recreation) was holding its second annual Guinness World Records “Skinny Dip Across North America.”
According to Mathia’s campaign, the nudists were "touched" by the governor hopeful who was reaching out to their lifestyle. Mathia reportedly made a "big splash" by getting in the pool with the other nudists and “hid nothing” about why she should govern Michigan. “She made a big noise about who she was over there, and lots of other unbelievable crap happened there with her as well,” a member of her campaign confessed. Mr. Mohr also received reports from a source close to Mathia that, “Stacey is also presently staying with people who are known 'swingers' (sex club people) and members of this nudist club.” Mr. Mohr responded, "Please don't let this hit the press."
Yesterday’s further revelations to Oakland County Independent Examiner are due to what State Central Committee members refer to as Mr. Mohr’s "feeble leadership" on the Mathia scandal and his “cavalier disregard" for the damage his leadership style is doing to the party.
On the party website Mr. Mohr promises Michigan voters in a video, “US Taxpayers Party of Michigan candidates are not nominated in the primary election. They are screened by the party for their character . . . As chairman of the US Taxpayers Party of Michigan, I will do everything in my power to make sure that our candidates are trustworthy and worthy of your support.”
Members and party officials are increasingly questioning the honesty of Mr. Mohr's promise. They claim he has not done everything in his power to make sure that this year’s gubernatorial candidate offered to Michiganders was properly vetted for her character.
Mr. Mohr was urged immediately by members of the party’s communications committee, “do a Press Release to ‘expose’ above board what she did so the party membership can provide feedback. I am not big on skeletons in the closet.” Another member of the committee urged, “Drop her like a hot potato. Period!” and urged Mr. Mohr to use his power to, “Be honest with Michigan. Let them know what happened and how we feel about it. Don’t play the citizens for fools.”
Mr.Mohr responded, “I already have one snapshot taken from WZZM's video, and Stacey has already admitted to me that she was there.” Mr. Mohr summed up his leadership style for the party when he said, “Don't let this hit the press.”

There is absolutely nothing wrong with visiting a nudist resort, especially when the candidate is supporting a Guinness World Record attempt. Skinny Dipping has been around as long as our country has existed. Supporters include several of our founding fathers, including John Adams and Benjamin Franklin. The YMCA and many schools once required swimmers to be nude.
What is wrong - is teaching people to be ashamed of their bodies, we have a society that is screwed up ... it is ok to teach your children to dress in sexy clothing, while teaching them their bodies are "dirty". And we wonder why so many have body issues.
Skinny Dipping is good, old fashioned FUN, Try it sometime soon, it'll add color to your cheeks.
Thank you for your comments. It is commendable to hear from citizens who are consistent in their lives regardless of their beliefs. What seems to be causing division in the US Taxpayers Party of Michigan is Mr. Mohr's leadership style of "Don't let this hit the press." By reports forwarded to me, this inconsistency has caused members and officials in the party to view the Chairman as hypocritical. They are concerned about a leader who appears to use his office to hide facts from the citizens.
While I disagree with your remedy to the problem, we are in agreement that our society sends conflicting and damaging signals to youth about their bodies and sexuality. And it is noteworthy that the Founding Fathers and the YMCA did not promote both sexes being nude together. That is a sharp distinction from contemporary nudist philosophy endorsed after the 1960's.
Thank you for reading Oakland Independent Examiner. I look forward to hearing from you again.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on this article.
It is the intent of Oakland County Independent Examiner to give citizens information about their political options so they might know the full spectrum of their voting options. The fact that Michigan has a candidate for governor who is reaching out to the nudist demographic is newsworthy. Surprisingly, no other news agency was willing to inform Michigan's citizens of this development. Only Oakland County Independent Examiner has the motto of "Clarity, accuracy, objectivity" written on the back of every business card and written into every article.
The fact that Mr. Mohr, Chairman of the US Taxpayers Party of Michigan, did not want the nudist community or the rest of Michigan to know about this unconventional campaign is seen by some Michiganders as waffling or duplicitous.
They are affiliated with the Constitution Party and make up the third largest political party in America . They have meetings open to the public every forth Saturday of the month. The next meeting is Saturday, September 25 2010, 10:00am - 12:00pm
I look forward to your future comments.

It would be wonderful to have the candidate express herself concerning this matter.
Several readers agree with you Shirley. Both the candidate and Mr. Mohr have been invited to express themselves concerning this matter.
Wow! That's a stretch using John Adams and Ben Franklin as examples supporting nudism! Abourt as conuvoulatd as not being ashamed of your body. We don't put body parts and body functions on public display as proof we are not ashamed of our body. Ask any kindergarden teacher.. Why not use such words as dignity, special, private, chaste, even sacred in this discussion ? Instead we have reasoning that usually starts with "I", me, my, which only highlights the gift of free will we are allowed to express. Free will is not the criteria for good judgement or good or bad. We only have to look around, turn on the news, read a newspaper to see there wicked elements that take advantage of the innocent. Wetherinrecreation or relegion, may we never forget 9/11, let's not fall prey to deluded or twisted thinking.
Good points. If someone uses Genesis to support nudism, they might not be considering the entire account of the origin of clothing. While Genesis does state the first man and woman made loin coverings after they sinned, it is noteworthy that it states God made long garments of animal skins to replace the "fig leaves." Theologians have understood this to indicate that, while the first couple felt ashamed over what they did, God was giving them a constant reminder of the method of redemption from death. Only another life, a sacrifice, could save them. Of all animals on earth only humans needed to be clothed by the sacrifice of another life. Those who see this meaning in Genesis would view nudism as fundamentally a denial of the need for a ransom.
Remind me again what the problem is? If Ms Mathia had appeared at a publicized golf tournament, her "intimate familiarity" with golf might "touch" golfers and "swing" some votes her way. All golfers are "swingers" and lots of nudists are golfers, so they must all be swingers! My point is that we all got the insinuation, and also noticed you didn't (on purpose?) link to AANR org where the event sounds family-friendly enough to be more akin to a church picnic than your implied "sex club". I'm not a nudist, golfer, swinger or a US Taxpayers Party member, but the skinnydip event sounded like cheerfully innocent good-old fashioned down-home family fun. I suspect there is a reason why "no other news agency" reported this "scandal".
Nudism is revolting, it is an excuse for exhibitionism on the hollow pretext that it is in some way 'natural'. If some people wish to expose themselves to strangers, fine, give em a place where they can do that with those of a similar mind, but it should be well away from us decent folks, and especially our kids.
Greenhorn... um, that is exactly what they did - got a place away from other people in a private area (a privacy fenced off resort with those of similar mind) for some innocent skinnydipping. No nude people were out in a public pool or in the city park. Also, I'm sorry you feel that nudism is "revolting". Most people who are against it believe that its either a big orgy fest, or that is all a bunch of old fat hippies, but neither is the case. Nothing goes on at a naturist resort that you wouldn't see at a sunday church picnic, except that everyone is nude (weather permitting).
Anonymous - I know they're not all having an orgy. What they are doing is exposing their genitalia etc and looking at other people exposing theirs. What the heck is so hard about donning a pair of loose shorts? Beats me, unless of course you actually want people to see your private parts.
I don't have a problem with folks getting nekkid among others who want to do the same. I do have a problem when they try to push the envelope and show themselves off to the rest of us when we don't want to see it, like with the naked bike ride stuff. Now you ain't telling me that's not revolting, in every sense of the word.
Greenhorn - I hear you. You don't like seeing "private parts". My wife can't stand seeing bra straps. I don't like strong perfumes. I think we'll all survive.
As to bike riding attire, I think government should limit its intervention to safety things like helmets. Otherwise, its just fashion choice. Personally, I find the cyclists in those skin-tight polyester outfits much more disturbing than naked cyclists. Come to think of it, why fuss with the extra fabric layer when skin is already the ultimate breathable form-fitting cycling outfit. But we digress -- cyclists in whatever garb might be an interesting constituency for a candidate to court.
"My wife can't stand seeing bra straps. I don't like strong perfumes".
There are lots of things I don't like seeing too, like men with earrings, but I don't find them offensive, nor do most other folk so far as I know, so I don't expect them to be banned by law. However, some things quite simply ARE offensive to a sizable chunk of the population, like a guy playing with his private parts in a public park or a someone shouting obscene words. I consider nudity to be in this category, not in the visible bra straps or male earrings category, and expect law enforcement to keep the streets free from such stuff.
There is fashion choice, which we may like or dislike, and then there is downright offensive. Naked is the latter to most decent folk and the only reason anyone would want to do that in public is because they are exhibitionists and exhibitionism is a form of sexual perversion.
Got something to say?
