The US Women's National team is returning to San Antonio on Sunday October 20th as they announced they will be taking on the Australian national team at the Alamodome
Tom Sermanni is now coach of the USA after being coach of Australia for a long time leading to a strong relationship with this match being the third time the two teams are playing each other since the 2012 London Olympics.
Australia played the USA twice in 2012, losing both matches, 2-1 and 6-2, but impressing in what really were goal-fests in what was the last matches with Sermanni in charge before he made the switch to the USA.
As a result this match will be the first time that the Matildas have taken on their former coach, and the work that Sermanni started has continued as the Matildas beat France in a European tour and find themselves up to eighth in the world rankings.
For the USA this match will be their tenth match in an indoor venue on the tenth anniversary of their first match indoors while for Australia it will be their first match inside.
The match will prove a vital part of both teams preparation for the 2015 Women's World Cup as the Alamodome has a turf pitch, with every venue in the 2015 World Cup being a turf pitch familiarity on turf pitches will be a vital asset.
The Matildas have never beaten the USA with 2 draws and 24 losses in their previous match-ups while the USA have never lost in Texas, with two wins coming in 2012 in Dallas and Houston, with a victory against Australia's neighbors, New Zealand in Dallas.
