US Reining Team reigns with 2010 WEG gold medal win

America’s Dream Team earns a threepeat in Reining.

The Adequan U.S. Reining team took top honors in Team Reining on Sunday, September 26th, earning gold medal honors on their native soil.

The two-day competition, representing the first discipline in the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) at Lexington’s Kentucky Horse Park, finished with the Americans on top for the third consecutive time. U.S. Reiners captured gold medals at the 2006 World Equestrian Games (in Aachen, Germany) and the 2002 World Equestrian Games (in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain).

Observing the stiff competition in the 2010 Team Reining competition, Jeff Petska, U.S. chef de’equipe, said, “We brought a bunch of heavyweights to a heavyweight fight.”

U.S. Reiner Tom McCutcheon saluted his team. "I don't know that we'll ever get the opportunity to put together a team like this again. In 20 or 30 years, I'll look back and say that I remember that team. I think truly it'll be a hard team to ever get by," the veteran American Reiner commented.
