Friday's US Open tennis 2013 live stream and televised coverage will feature the women's semifinals on Sept. 6. Among those still remaining for the women's side are the tournament favorite, Serena Williams, and the No. 2 ranked Victoria Azarenka, with the two appearing to be on a potential collision course for the finals. First up, they'll have to get by No. 5 Na Li, and surprise semifinalist, Flavia Pennetta, of Italy. Games will be televised and live streaming online from US Open on Friday for tennis fans to enjoy.
According to a Sept. 5 article via USOpen.org, Serena Williams has extended her dominance in women's tennis, as she now has an overall record of 70-9 during her career at this particular Grand Slam tournament. She's now competing in her 24th career Grand Slam semifinals, and has reached the finals at the US Open six times. She continues to be the favorite here, and in her upcoming match with No.5 ranked Li Na, Williams is a heavy favorite at -1000, with her opponent priced at +550.
According to BBC Sport, Williams was asked about her upcoming match and told the media:
"She moves really well. The challenge of playing someone like her is: how do you beat a player that does everything so well?
I'm going to have to think about that and come up with an answer."
The other match is a slightly-closer matchup, with Victoria Azarenka priced at -550 and Flavia Pennetta at +350. Pennetta was not expected to be in the semifinals, but has continued to play on. In this 2013 US Open tournament she's dispatched of No.4 Sara Errani in the second round, and more recently, No. 10 Roberta Vinci in the quarterfinals. Pennetta, who hails from Brindisi, Italy, is currently the No. 83 player in the WTA, with a win-loss record of 16-17 over the course of this year.
However, to become the first Italian woman to make the finals, she'll have to get by a tough opponent in Azarenka first. According to BBC Sport, Pennetta has said she is ready for the challenge, saying, "I have nothing to lose. I'm confident because I'm here and I don't feel the pressure right now."
Today's first US Open 2013 women's semifinals match will be held at 1:45 p.m. EST, featuring Flavia Pennetta vs. Victoria Azarenka. The other match will follow after, with a start time of approximately 3:45 p.m. EST, featuring Serena Williams vs. Na Li. Both matches are scheduled to live stream online at the USOpen Live area on the US Open website. Televised coverage of both matches will be shown on CBS, with additional coverage available on the Tennis Channel.
