An important US Open 2013 tennis live stream and televised match will feature Andy Murray vs. Michael Llodra on Wednesday evening. Murray is the current reigning champion for the tournament and will be looking to get started off with a big win. Of course, Llodra would love nothing more than to play spoiler. Today's matchup will be live streaming and televised thanks to the ESPN sports network.
A BBC Sports report on Aug 26 indicates that Murray has to wait for night to play his first match at the event in Flushing Meadows, New York. That's after being in New York for two weeks now, and with hopefulness that rain doesn't spoil his first match as defending champion at the event. There's currently thunderstorms forecasted for the area as the nighttime arrives. Despite all that, the current Wimbledon champion is 3-0 in his previous contests against his opponent Michael Llodra. Murray enters this matchup as third favorite overall to win the event this year, right behind Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
When asked about if he felt pressure at the 2013 US Open, Murray told reporters:
"I think there is less pressure. think before the first match there will be nerves there - I expect to be pretty nervous because it's a new experience and it's different - but I think once the tournament gets going, I don't think it changes too much.
There was a lot of pressure on me for a lot of years to win a Grand Slam, and then the same sort of thing at Wimbledon. I wouldn't imagine it would be the same here."
Murray also praised his opponent saying, "It's a tough match. Llodra is a tricky player, serves well, one of the best doubles player in the world just now, very good hands, and he's very unpredictable." That unpredictable nature was what led to a big upset against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga earlier in the tennis season this year. It's said that Llodra uses a strategy of making his opponents run around the court, but that just so happens to be one of Murray's strengths.
Of note, Murray was put in the same half of the US Open 2013 draw as Novak Djokovic. Murray defeated Djokovic to win at Wimbledon this year, and should the two keep winning at Flushing Meadows, they'll meet up in the semi-finals for this tournament, making for an interesting matchup. Of course, first Murray needs to get past Llodra, and the weather.
