Elizabeth O'Bagy, who was paid by the British and US government to provide propaganda favorable to the Islamists fighting in Syria has apparently committed perjury in the trial of American Eric Harroun, who was accused of fighting alongside al-Nusra in Syria., an Al Qaeda linked group. O'Bagy submitted an affidavit that his group was not Islamist.Until recently, their web site included a picture of the US Capitol in flames.
O'Bagy was fired this week from her day job for lying about having a doctorate from Georgetown University. No mention of her job with the British and American governments. O'Bagy wrote an oped for the Wall Street Journal, that has been used to justify an attack on Syria, even though they have no proof that Assad ordered the sarin attack or even if anyone within the government did.
O'Bagy works for the Syrian Emergency Task Force, a government sponsored entity that also pays for lobbying of our congress...on our dime. Basically, they are a propaganda organization. Their job is to show the terrorists in the best possible light. Both John McCain and John Kerry have quoted O'Bagy in an effort to justify US intervention. Detractors say that would have the US military aiding Al Qaeda as they did in Libya.
A report by NBC News', Robert Windrem, shows 8 photos from the web site of “Al-Aqsa Islamic Brigades" One of the pictures depicts armed arab fighters carrying guns, as the US Capitol Building burns in the background. That Facebook page has been removed. Two of the other pictures displayed the Al Qaeda flag prominantly.
According to the NBC report, 50% of all rebels are now affiliated with Islamic terrorist groups. The Obama administration has not named them a terrorist organization, despite the fact they are linked to Jabhat al-Nusra, one of two rebel groups described as terrorist groups fighting in Syria.
Evan Kohlmann, a senior partner with the security firm Flashpoint Intelligence, said:
"As a group that claims affiliation to the generally pro-Western Free Syrian Army, it is difficult to reconcile the fact that it has plastered such a lurid anti-American image as the banner on its own official Facebook page. It raises the unfortunate but inescapable fact that not every group within the Free Syrian Army is closely aligned with U.S. interests in the region."
Secretary of State, John Kerry, testified before congress that the actual percentage of Islamic fighter is between 15% and 25%. But Defense officials have pegged that number at 50% or higher. Here are a couple of videos that were made by the group.
