It’s almost time, the North Union Farmers Market, will be returning to U.S. Bank Plaza, (formerly Star Plaza) featuring fresh and local farm foods. The season starts on Thursday, June 12th, 2014 at 10:30 am – 1:30 p.m, with live entertainment, every Thursday, from June 12 through October 2, 2014.
It’s a great place to stop for lunch, if you work near or in the downtown area, you can hop on the Green Trolley, on Euclid Ave., it’s free to ride. There will be samplings from various chefs; as well as live entertainment, you can also enter to win a free Troy-Bilt lawn mower.
The market is brought to you by North Union Farmers Market, the largest single managers of farmers markets, they currently feature markets at US Bank Plaza, across from Playhouse Square, University Hospital, Shaker Square and Crocker Park, to name a few, there will be a variety of vendors featuring an assortment of dairy and meat products, fresh grown produce and much more.
The market will also feature bakers with an array of delicious breads and pastries and connoisseurs of such items as pasta’s, jellies, cheeses and more. Purchases can be made by cash, credit card or SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance) Ohio Direction Card. (You can get tokens, with your Ohio Direction Card, for purchases)
Northern Union Farmers Markets are a participant in the Produce Perks Incentive Program of the Cleveland Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition this incentive is a dollar for dollar match for every dollar spent (up to $10.00) when you use an Ohio Direction Card on your market purchase of fruits and vegetables. There is no minimum purchase amount to qualify for the incentives. All other tokens purchased with the Ohio Direction Card are good to use on eligible items at the market.
