The body of an active duty Airman in the US Air Force was identified today may 14, 2014. Airman Joseph Hayden was stationed at Travis Air Force Base. Hayden was swimming with friends at an inlet just above Pinecrest lake in Tuolumne County on Sunday when he dived into an area known as 'Cleo's Bath'.

Hayden did not resurface and a search was begun the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Dept, the Search and Rescue Team, Fire Dept. and Forest Service. At this time it is reported by the Sheriff's Dept. and MML that Hayden's body has not yet been located. Despite the low snow pack level, the inlet area is still experiencing high water flows due to the warm weather creating fast snow melt this year.

The US Forest Service has stated it will be necessary to wait until the water flows have slacked off somewhat, lower water levels will allow the Search & Rescue Team to perform the search without risking more lives in the process.
