If you've ever been to a NASCAR race, you know the one thing the fans love are the pre-race ceremonies—the National Anthem, the American flags waving and the fly-over.
But this past weekend, the fans at Las Vegas Motor Speedway were treated to something extra special: an Enlistment Ceremony for the United States Air Force.
When I first saw the cadets lined up on the track saying “Yes, Sir!” I had no idea what was going on. Then I looked at the schedule of events and saw they were preparing for the ceremony. Also with them were a group of Boy Scouts, who would be accompanying drivers on stage. The two groups took pictures together and spoke with each other.
It truly was a beautiful sight.
When those cadets took to the stage, the crowd roared. When it was announced the ceremony was beginning, the crowd was silent. And as soon as the ceremony was over, the crowd took to their feet and gave the new enlistees a warm welcome to their new lives.

These pampered young race car drivers get millions in sponsorship from the U.S. Government. But they wouldn't be caught dead actually signing up.
