Urlacher and Chicago Bears to part ways

After weeks of stalled contract talks, Brian Urlacher and the Chicago Bears have announced contract negotiations have officially ended between the two sides.

Urlacher has played for the Bears all 12 seasons of his career after being selected by Chicago in the first round back in 2000.

In Chicago, Urlacher earned eight Pro Bowl selections, an NFL player of the year award, and notched a team record of 1,294 career tackles.

Coming off of a 7.5 million dollar cap hit in 2012, Urlacher refused to resign by way of a one year deal worth two million dollars.

"I wanted to be in Chicago," Urlacher said according to the Chicago Tribune. "I wanted to finish here."

Overall, the reports of interest in Urlacher have been considered to be relatively low around the league. A source from ESPN named the Minnesota Vikings, as a potential suitor.
