Urban Organics Supports Local Sustainability

Urban Organics is a locally owned manufacturer of many polular soil amendments used by both organic and traditional gardeners. Located in Brunswick Hills, they produce Sweet Peet and Freeland soils. They are also distributors for other great products for sustainably minded gardeners such as Gardensoxx,  a locally produced garden product from Grafton, Ohio.

Their contribution to local sustainability doesn't end with their product lines, they put their money where their mouth is (and yours) by contributing to many urban outreach programs aimed at promoting sustainable abriculture. Their very own Freebird farms is a working model of polyculture that you can visit right here in Northeast Ohio.

As told on their website:

"FreeBird Farms is a diversified “Polyculture” operation that employs a combination of old fashioned and cutting edge farming practices. Our greenhouses are heated bio-hydronically (a closed loop hot water system that draws heat from our compost piles). We combine “vermicomposting”, “hydroponics” and “no-till GardenSoxx®” systems to produce a self-sustaining closed loop, no-waste totally organic system."
