Urban Daddy and Renaissance Hotels invited Examiner.com to an evening of "Rediscovery" on September 27, 2013. The event was meant to bring together fellow New Yorkers to discover some of the hidden gems of the city and indeed it did. After activating our room key, the navigation through the smells, sounds and sights of New York City began. The amazing penthouse terrace at the Renaissance 57, the tasting sessions featuring local chefs and mixologists, the massage room and the hyped up sounds of DJ Valissa Yoe and electric violinist, Gray Devio all added to the fun of navigating through this evening of discovery.
Some of the best chefs and mixologists in the city came out to share their creations. A red snapper ceviche served with plantain chips from Norman’s Cay was fresh and brought you to the Caribbean with its flavor. A smooth and tasty butternut squash soup with a hint of hazelnuts from Crown really warmed up the soul. Gelato for all with variety including a vegan flavor from A.B. Biagi was a big hit. Of course what is the food without the drinks so Bluepoint Brewery was there to share their Seasonal Pumpkin Ale. Mixologists also came out with some delicious cocktails to wet the guest’s whistles. The therapists of Yelo Spa gave out relaxing and much needed massages in their special room on the tour of discovery. What is an evening without music and DJ Valissa Yoe with electric violinist Gray Devio delivered just that. Mixing the hottest beats and strumming the sexy sound of the electric violin and we all danced the night away. We event spotted Dascha and Selenis from "Orange is the New Black."
The evening was a hit and many New Yorkers discovered many little gems. The night did not have to end there and Urbandaddy and Renaissance made sure of that. Throughout the evening guests could tap their key at each station and gain access to all the fun going on through social media. Guests had the opportunity to pick and choose the foods, music and even new venues to discover both that evening and on their own. This linked their choices to their email and Facebook for memories and fun to never forget.
