Urban agriculture regional training center and model farm

Located in Stapleton, Feed Denver is a model farm for sustainable food systems in an urban environment . The farm has partnered with Growing Power to be one of their Regional Outreach Training Center (ROTC).  Growing Power’s mission:

"Inspiring communities to build sustainable food systems that are
equitable and ecologically sound, creating a just world, one food-secure
community at a time"

Being a Growing Power ROTC, Feed Denver will host “From the Ground Up” type
workshops for the region and will receive support to plan and develop a
Community Food Systems project inspired by Growing Power's Community Food
Center and Projects.

ROTC components:

  • Provide workshops and education;
  • Create green jobs;
  • Provide improvements to the environmental health of the area.
  • Grow compost soil and worms for community projects/residents;
  • House and operate working aquaponics systems;
  • Develop other programs and initiatives that move community food systems forward;
  • Host Growing Power “From the Ground Up" trainings

Workshops include:

  • Introduction to Fungi
  • Introduction to permaculture
  • Kitchen medicine
  • Introduction to animal husbandry
  • Introduction to pultry
  • Basics to keeping goats
  • Basics to keeping sheep
  • Introduction to felting
  • Beginning inkle loom weaving
  • Beginning hand spinning
