Jasmine Weaver, founder of Jazzy Pit Bulls Kennel and Rescue located in upstate South Carolina, has now rescued the same dog for the third time. On November 3, Jasmine gave me the sad details on Scrappy (Spooby at the shelter), who has once again been abandoned.
Scrappy first came to Jasmine when he was dumped on her doorstep back in June 2010 with nine of his brothers and sisters. The entire litter was very sick with Coccidia and on the verge of death.
Jazzy's Pit Bulls saved them all and adopted them out after completely vetting them, including spay/neuter and all vaccines. Scrappy was adopted out in August 2010 when he was 10 weeks old. His brother Chevelle was also adopted by a family back in August 2010, and ironically, was just saved again last month after a horrible situation where he ingested a towel and Jasmine was called to help save Chevelle's life.
Scrappy was returned to Jasmine the first time in May of 2011 due to the divorce of the couple who adopted him. He was placed with a potential adopter in June 2011, who returned him a month later because Spooby was too hyper.
Then in August 2011, Scrappy went to live with another couple who promised to love him forever. He was recently turned into Greenville County Animal Care Services, abandoned by his owners. Most likely he was brought in by a neighbor or friend after his second adopter moved.
Jasmine heard Scrappy was once again at the shelter, and once again she has rescued him. Only this time he's heartworm positive and will need treatment before another adoptive family can be found for him.
Scrappy is a little over three years old now. He's already been neutered and is healthy, other than being heartworm positive. Spooby weighs a bit over 60 pounds now. He's dog friendly and people friendly. Jasmine isn't sure how he is with cats.
Jasmine needs all the help she can get with Spooby's treatment, as well as the other dogs in her care. Her rescue mission states
"Jazzy Pit Bulls is a small organization with great ambition! Together, with the help of the community, we are working diligently to provide the utmost care possible for abused, neglected and mistreated Pit Bulls. We are endlessly dedicated to our cause and to the sanction and well being of this loving and charismatic breed."
