Former OC girl Mischa Barton is sick of the media saying she's unstable. The actress has shot down the insults before on her personal blog but is firing again in defense of her mental and physical health.
While the star revs up for her new show The Beautiful Life, the star is ready to put her botched dental surgery drama behind her.
The 23-year-old actress was admitted into a mental health facility in Los Angeles this past summer in July.
Since then, Barton has told the media the incident was due to an ill-fated surgery to remove two wisdom teeth.
"It was just too much for me to handle at the time," Barton says. Barton admits to hitting "rock bottom" at the time but says she's happy and healthy now.
Barton said in an interview, “I was overwhelmed."
The star explained she already had a heavy workload and the surgery was the straw the broke the camel's back for her health status.

"I just had surgery on my wisdom teeth that went really badly… They had to drill into my jaw, I was in excruciating pain… It was just too much to have this surgery go so wrong.”
When Barton packed on the weight and picture comparisons hit the press, fans were left wanting answers.
Speculation that Barton wouldn't be included in the expected run of The Beautiful Life made it worse for the star.
"I just had a bad time of year and now it's all over and done with," says Barton.
She's ready for the media to give her a new label and has a new body to prove it.
Barton said on her blog that nothing "unhealthy" is going on in her life. In fact, writes the star, "Recent trips away from America have helped me to lose a little bit of weight."
"I've been watching what I eat...I still love my pilates and yoga and I have cut back on fatty foods a bit."
In an exclusive statement released this week to Celebuzz, Barton blames the celeb-media industry for what she's dealing with now, comparing the media to the "mean girls in high school."
"One minute, I'm too fat, the next I'm too skinny," Barton said. "[The press] is always looking to start rumors and create drama."
The fact that the stories have only escalated forced her to take a stand against news stand titles like "Wasting Away" (InTouch). "Honestly I think this whole situation is ridiculous," she wrote in her statement to Celebuzz. "But there comes a time when you have to address these things."
