UPS will open 25,000 jobs over the next five years

UPS will open 25,000 jobs for drivers/carriers over the next five years; this is the number of employees they have retiring during that time. UPS drivers/carriers make an average of $74,000 a year.

Trainees at UPS must pass a virtual training program at Integrad and a driving test. Integrad is located just outside Washington DC and a new center is being developed outside Chicago. Roughly 10% of applicants fail the training, and 30% fail the driving test.

UPS has over 400,000 employees worldwide, and approximately 99,000 drivers in the US. UPS has been named one of the 100 best places to work for by several national organizations.

UPS just announced plans to lay off 300 pilots worldwide, and announced plans to lay off 1,800 managers and office workers in January, according to CBS News. Currently in Salt Lake City, Utah the UPS website has posted a part-time package handler position.
