Tracey Sole of Barnhart, Missouri found a note from a UPS driver which informed her that her delivery – a brand new Android tablet which she had purchased for her daughter’s Christmas present – was left in Sole’s trash can. The problem is that the driver left it in the trash can on garbage pickup day and, you guessed it, the tablet is gone, according to Yahoo! News on Monday.
Sole realized what had happened when she saw the UPS InfoNotice with the words “In Black Trash Can” and looked in the black trash can and found nothing.
Sole said that she was trying to talk to the guy on the phone and he told her that she was going to have to calm down. She said that he couldn’t understand what she was saying – as she was so upset. She also said it was awful – "probably the worst feeling."
Eventually, UPS investigated what had happened with the delivery to Sole, and she was quite right. The driver left the package in her trash can. According to UPS’ response regarding their policy, drivers are trained to leave packages out of sight and protected from inclement weather. UPS also apologized and agreed to purchase a new tablet – eventually - for Sole to give to her daughter on Christmas.
Sole is apparently a very good soul. After people read of her incident, they offered to buy her daughter a new tablet – or give money to buy another one – but Sole said those donations should be given to Toys for Tots. Regarding the future of the delivery driver, she was also kind-hearted by saying the driver should not be fired because, as Sole said, “He will never make that mistake again.”
