According to Monday's KXAN News, two dogs are recovering from injuries in Lakeway, Texas, after a UPS delivery driver allegedly slashed them with a box cutter while making a package delivery to their family's home.

Laura Crowell's dogs were injured last Friday when they were inside of their yard, which is secured with an invisible fence; signs on the property indicate the presence of the invisible fencing.

Crowell told KXAN that she learned about the terrifying situation from a neighbor who called and delivered the bad news - she said:

“My neighbor called and said you need to get home immediately,”

One of the injured dogs required staples to close his wounds and the other needed 50 stitches on his face.

UPS has since issued an official apology - they stated that they:

“do not condone the carrying of knives or any other defensive device…We will speak with our driver and the customer and take appropriate action once all the facts are known.”

A detective from the local sheriff's office has been assigned to investigate the case.
