Last week the Rock Star Energy Drin Uproar music festival stopped at Chicagoland’s First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre. The annual Rock ‘n’ Roll caravan started off with up and comers Charming Liars, Chuck Shaffer Picture Show, and Illinois local rockers Mindset Evolution. New Politics rocked out to an enthusiastic audience, followed by California duo Middle Class Rut. Next up Toronto rockers Danko Jones hit the stage with all their lusty Rock ‘n’ Roll might. Australia’s Dead Daisies played a band Walking Papers offered up a charismatic a Punk and Blue-infused set.
As the daylight waned, the show headed over to the main stage area where Circa Survive kicked things up another notch. New Yorkers Coheed and Cambira entertained the Uproar audience with their unique blend of Prog/Punk/Metal/Alternative Rock. Next up, Jane’s Addition graced the stage complete with dolled-up back up singers/Gothic burlesque-ish dancers. A shirtless Dave Navarro gave his usual, delicious guitar best as Perry Ferrell jittered and sang about the stage to a slew of hits and a few B-sides. Lastly, Alice In Chains took the stage, with a show saturated in colors, lights, and deeply melodic grooves. The rainy day turned in to a steamy hot night as singer William DuVall seamlessly filled in for the late, great Layne Staley. The highly influential musicians on-stage show ages like a fine wine—growing smoother, and nearer perfection with each passing year.
In addition to being a long-standing, annual Rock fest, Uproar is also unique in its opportunities to fans and charitable giving. This year, one lucky fan had the opportunity to be flown to any show courtesy of Danko Jones. Another winner will get to see Dead Daisies and Alice Cooper out in L.A. And a Harley-Davidson designed by Dave Navarro will be given to one random Uproar fan. In each city, a worth charity is chosen to receive proceeds as well and an opportunity to promote their cause at the festival stops. Among the supported charities of Uproar are MusicCares and ChildFind of America To see if the Uproar festival is scheduled to hit a town near you in the next month, visit: http://www.rockstaruproar.com
