Upper Darby police make arrest in last night’s hit and run

Less than an hour ago, Upper Darby police have made an arrest in a hit and run last night that left a man in critical condition. The accident took place at approximately at 10:30 p.m. Last night along the 7000 block of West Chester Pike. Police were searching for a minivan involved in the accident.

At approximately 6 a.m. The suspect surrendered himself to Upper Darby police. According to Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood, sometimes overnight, the passenger in the striking vehicle came to the police station and identified the driver.

The suspect’s name was not immediately released. Chitwood said the driver did not have a driver’s license and may have been in the United States illegally.

The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is listed in critical condition
