Upper Darby apartment raided for possible drug sales

On Tuesday night, police in Upper Darby, with search warrant in tow, went to the an apartment in the 6800 block of Ludlow Street shared by Ranisha Johnson, 18, and Marquis Taylor, 22. There police found Taylor, Johnson, and 51-year-old Renee Arthur, who resides in the 200 block of Wembley Road, and Johnson’s 4-month-old son while investigating the property as a possible source of drug sales.

While at the property, police officers confiscated numerous bags of crack cocaine, heroin, $400 in cash and a fully loaded.32-caliber revolver wrapped in a pair of men’s sweatpants, according to police Superintendent Michael Chitwood. He added, “They were dealing drugs out of the apartment,” Chitwood said. He further stated that a caseworker for Delaware County Children and Youth Services had to be contacted and the child was then turned over to Johnson’s grandmother, Chitwood said.

The three alleged drug dealers were arraigned Wednesday morning on charges including drug possession with the intent to deliver, conspiracy, endangering the welfare of children and conspiracy. Bail information was not available.

According to authorities Taylor has an extensive criminal past, including arrests for dealing drugs, robbery and weapons violations.

These arrests come only a day after Upper Darby police searched the 2400 block of Manor Ave in search of an alleged heroin dealer Michael Hill. Hill was not found at the residence and police are focusing their search on the Philadelphia area.
