The story of the Koran burning rally is now developing rapidly with a number of strange twists. As of right now Pastor Jones has said he is canceling the Koran burning event, but many are confused since Jones referred to a deal that never existed and has no hope of existing. Here are the latest updates on the story:
- At approximately 5:30 EST Pastor Jones held a press conference with a local Muslim Imam from Florida. There Jones announced that he had canceled his Koran burning rally due to an agreement he made with Imam Rauf, the major leader behind the Cordoba House or "Ground Zero mosque" as conservatives call it. According to Jones, the Koran burning rally would be canceled in exchange for an agreement from Imam Rauf to move the mosque project.
- However, reporters quickly got on the phone and found that no such deal had been made with Imam Rauf. In fact, Pastor Jones never personally spoke with Imam Rauf, instead the communication was all done through the local Imam in central Florida.
- The Florida Imam, Muhammad Musri, has also said that no deal has been reached to move the New York City mosque. Instead, the Florida Imam stated that the only agreement that has been made is for Pastor Jones and Imam Rauf to meet.
- What is not clear now is whether Pastor Jones will still continue with his Koran burning rally now that no deal to move the mosque exists.
- Not only does a deal not exists, but it seems extremely unlikely at this point. Imam Rauf told Christiane Amanpour that "We are not going to toy with our religion or any other, nor are we here to barter." Imam Rauf also made clear that he never personally talked to Pastor Jones.
- Sarah Palin gave her own opinion on the matter in a recent Tweet saying, "Book burner "stands down" -good! Now, followers of book who want to kill innocents bc some people do things you don't agree with: Stand Down" Earlier Palin connected the Koran burning event with the "Ground Zero mosque" controversy, equating both as offensive gestures. Pastor Jones has now clearly made a connection between the two stories as well.
- According to NBC News, the associate pastor of the Dove World Outreach Church now says that the Koran burning is not canceled but merely suspended. Pastor Jones claims that he was "lied to" about the "Ground Zero mosque."

Yah, I'm sure all the Muslim terrorists are gonna read that $arah!
Building the mosque....Burning the books. Both are 'legal', but equally and stupidly insensitive.
