It appears likely that USC Junior WR Damian Williams will enter the 2010 NFL Draft, so teh WR prospect ranking have once again been shuffled AP Photo
Things for the 2010 NFL draft are constantly in motion, we have not seen all the College Bowl games yet, nor the post season College All Star games and the NFL Scouting Combine is still more than a month away. As we move closer to these events the ranking will start to set themselves, as for now they are a little more fluid.
With that being said here is a look at the current top 10 WR prospects for the 2010 NFL Draft:
1. Dez Bryant Junior, Oklahoma State- He is a big receiver who busted onto the scene in 2008 easily challenging Michael Crabtree as the best receiver in the College ranks. While he has been suspended by the NCAA that should not affect his draft stock and he should be the first receiver drafted in 2010.
2. Golden Tate, Junior, Notre Dame- Tate is a two sport athlete, playing both football and baseball for the Fighting Irish. The Arizona Diamondback drafted him in the 2007 baseball draft, but chose school over that prospect. He won the 2009 Bilentnikoff award, and is a sure fire first round draft pick.
3. Arrelious Benn, Junior, Illinois- He is the big, physical receiver that NFL teams covet. Many scouts believe him to be the best player in the Big Ten in 2008. His only negative is he does not have elite speed, but his skill as a kick returner greatly outweighs that
4. Brandon Lafell Senior, LSU-He has deceptive quickness and athleticism for such a big receiver, 6-2, 207lbs. He gets up field quickly after catching the ball and has the agility to avoid tacklers
5. Jordan Shipley Senior, Texas- When he is healthy he is one of the most productive receivers/return men in the game today. However he has big time durability concerns after missing 2004 and 2005 due to injuries and having shoulder surgery this spring
6. Damian Williams, Junior, USC- I am not as high on the kid as many others. He has shoulder concerns, and seems to project as a number two, or possession receiver in the NFL. He is the most polished WR in this draft, and can run very effective slants. On top of that he has good cutting abilities
7. Mardy Gilyard Senior, Cincinnati- The only real knock on him is he is tall and lanky and lacks the bulk to break tackles. However his stats at Cincinnati should speak for themselves and he showed no slow down despite losing his starting QB for a few games
8. Jacoby Ford Senior, Clemson- While he lacks the ideal height, he is a speed burner that has the quickness to make sharp cuts and can score from anywhere on the field
9. Eric Decker Senior, Minnesota- He might be the best hands guy in this draft, and he is also a baseball prospect. He is a tough and aggressive runner, and makes difficult catches look routine. He had 50 catches for 758 yards before sitting down to a foot injury
10. Dexter McCluster Senior, Ole Miss- He is more a Wild Cat weapon that he is a true receiver. However a team like the Miami Dolphins would have a hard time passing on him, since he would fit their wild cat scheme so well

So, since Nov. 24th, Tulane's Jeremy Williams has gone from #5 receiver to off your board?? Strange. Did he get arrested or injured? I know Benn and Tate and other underclassmen can affect ranking...but still weird. Maybe it's that other draft services/sites aren't high on Williams. Then again, 2nd round grade for him on nfldraftscout.com. Also, still no BayBay Thomas?? Prediction- by March, Lafell will be ranked #6-10 receiver by everyone.

At this time of the year everything is in motion, This ranking was done on 12-26, and is probably a lot different now on 1-17. Guys go up and down and I will revisit the rankings after the two big College All Star Games, and again after the combine.
As for Jeremy Williams, a number of underclassmen have come out since this ranking so ya, right now is is 11th or so I would say. That may change, in fact probably will change.
For the most part I do my rankings as a composite of three or four big draft services, plus what my fellow examiners have to say on the player.
Williams suffers from playing at Tulane, where I don't get to watch him play often, but I still think pretty highly of him.
