Next Step For The BP Oil Spill In The Gulf Of Mexico
The planned next step to be taken by BP in trying to plug the Gulf oil spill is a process being called a "top kill". This attempt will seek to stem the gushing flow of oil created when the Transocean Deepwater Horizon burned and sank five weeks ago. Since then more than 54,000 square miles of fishing waters have been shut by the federal government and 70 miles of the Louisiana coastline have been covered by the oil slick.
The "top kill" would entail dumping 50,000 barrels of dense mud into the leaking pipes, in an attempt to use a method that has been successful in the past, but that has never been tried at this depth of 5,000 feet. The final decision to move ahead with the "top kill" has not yet been made by the Chief Executive of BP, Tony Hayward. Hayward has said that if unsuccessful, this procedure could actually make the leak worse than it already is.
If the "top kill" is used, it can be watched streaming live below. This streaming video is being provided by BP and it runs 24/7. Below is an animation of the way in which a "top kill" would be executed.

The BP live feed was taken offline, but the feed below was accessed and is still streaming live.

can a metal pipe cut to 45 degree angle be inserted on leaking pipe and vacuum oil?
That is a very good question? Maybe BP know. Or, then again, maybe not.
can an open valve welded to a split tee be placed over the leak and weld by robot 1 rod at a time, bring robot up to change rods, after welded close valve.
i think they should have longs tube that can separate the water from the oil then all this mess will be over
Im tired of hearing Bp is being billed. When is someone going to come forth and do something. Enough of the talking!! You know this country can come together when another country needs help, Make music videos and raise billions of dollars but whenever USA has a crisis we sit on our Butts. We are dependent on oil. Ship happens, lets stop making blame and take action!!
