A 16-year-old was charged Wednesday in the deadly shooting of another teen two months earlier in Athens. So far, he is the second person to be arrested for the crime.

Tyrique Watson was charged with felony murder in the May 30 shooting of 18-year-old Jordorian “Jojo” Randolph, according to Athens-Clarke County police. He was arrested without incident in Walton County, Maj. Mark Sizemore said Wednesday in a news release.

Last month Telvin Fleming, 20, of Athens, was also charged in the drive-by shooting, Sizemore said. So far, police have not released a motive for the murder.

Around 1 a.m. on May 30, officers responded to Westchester Circle after getting a report of gunshots fired in the area that Friday. When officers arrived, they found the teen lying on the ground, his body partially obscured from view by hedges in front of a duplex in the 200 block, police spokeswoman Hilda Sorrow has said.

Someone had shot the teen at least once and left him to die outside the home, Sorrow said. Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived, but the victim died at the scene, she said. Randolph lived several blocks from the crime scene in an adjoining neighborhood on Chalfont Lane, police said.

Assistant Police Chief Fred Stephens said at the time that Randolph appeared to have been struck by “gunfire from a rolling vehicle,” according to the Athens Banner-Herald. The duplex where the teen died was riddled with bullet holes.

Police have not said how they were able to link the two suspects to the crime and it's unclear if any additional arrests are expected in the shooting. But police said the investigation is ongoing. They are asking anyone with information related to the crime to contact the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (706) 613-3342.
