UPDATE: Snow continues to accumulate, late school start times announced

Snowfall is slowing in some areas, but throughout the Chicago area it is expected to continue to fall until Midnight. The Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 9 a.m. tomorrow for several counties in Northern Illinois.

As of 6:30 p.m., the following snow accumlations had been reported on WGN's chicagoweathercenter.com.

5.2" Yorkville

5.0" New Lenox

4.0" Chicago- Uptown

3.7" Arlington Heights

3.4" Chicago- Midway

3.3" Batavia

2.4" Waukegan

2.3" Chicago- O'Hare

The snow and winds created hazardous road conditions, which led to many accidents on the roadways during Thursday's rush hour. Several schools cancelled after school activities and evening classes. Some schools, such as Cedar Lake's Hanover Community Schools have reported delayed start times. The Hanover School's start time will be delayed by two hours tomorrow.
