April 29, 2011 Kiowa, CO -- This morning, Elbert County Sheriff Shayne Heap held a press conference to ask for the public's help in finding someone the Sheriff's office would like to speak with in relation to the case last June of murdered Kiowa teacher, Randy Wilson.

Sheriff Heap stated that the ongoing investigation into the murder of Randy Wilson, a teacher in Kiowa Colorado had recently uncovered an "unidentified DNA source" on a piece of evidence submitted to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from the location where Randy Wilson's body was found June 14, 2010. Heap stated that investigators from the Elbert County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) have travelled to numerous states, including Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming to gather evidence and follow leads. Commenting on the "unidentified DNA source" Heap stated that the person's of interest so far in this case have been eliminated as "potential contributors to the DNA profile".

What is known is that Wilson was traveling from Montana to Colorado on June 13 2010, returning home to Kiowa following a visit with family. Wilson had stopped for dinner in Cheyenne Wyoming on route and then refueled in Bennet, Colorado just off I-70 before heading south on the Kiowa-Bennet road. During the now 8 month investigation, the ECSO team has identified a female who was present at the gas station at about the same time as Randy Wilson. Her name is Krista Coppedge, she is believed to be a piano tuner who was attending the Aspen Music festival, which was scheduled to start July 1st. The Elbert County Sheriff's Office would like to speak with Krista Coppedge as it is thought she might be among the last people to see him alive. It's believed the vehicle Ms Coppedge was traveling in had broken down in Kansas. According to video from the gas station in Bennet, Ms Coppedge appears to be traveling with a male in an older model Volkswagen Rabbit with Florida plates. The Sheriff's Office would also like to speak with this individual who is described as a male with curly brown shoulder length hair, thin build and clean-shaven.

If you have any information regarding this case, or know the whereabouts of Krista Coppedge or her travel companion please contact the Elbert County Sheriff's Office at: (303)-621-2027
