If you have not heard of The Olivia Law please click here to familiarize yourself with the situation. It is one that effects the hearts of thousands of people already, and what happened to this sweet baby girl could happen to anyone. Her family is in need of assistance with medical bills and funeral costs. They also need our support in bringing awareness.
Olivia Marie Coats graced our world with her presence on December 28th, 2013. Rachel Melancon and her Fiance Allen Coats expected a healthy baby girl, and she was in fact beautiful and flawless. She was also perfectly healthy until Dr. George Backardjehiv decided to use forceps before rushing mom off for an emergency c-section.
As stated in the previous piece, Olivia was born unable to move or breathe on her own, She was internally damaged by the forceps that Dr.George Backardjehiv used during the birthing procedure. One can only imagine the horror Olivia's parents felt when they found out their perfect little girl was suffering from a fractured skull and severed spinal cord.
Father, Allen Coats, released a statement saying, "We want our Little angel to live on and change the world with her story. Please make this happen and tell everyone you know we love you all , and thanks for making this possible. As most of you know Olivia is now on life support due to her doctor using forceps trying to get her out of the birth canal which caused her skull to be crushed and a broken spine leaving her brain dead. Her loved ones are in a great deal of pain and appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers throughout this hard time.
Further information will be posted on the Olivia Marie Coats group page on Facebook as well as more knowledge of what is yet to come. Please pray for the family as they spend time with her tomorrow, she will be taken off life support and her love will live on in a little boy or girl who is in need of a heart or a certain organ. You will never be forgotten princess! We will be trying to pass the Olivia law so no other doctor can use forceps, and this can be prevented from happening to any other precious child!"
Rachel Melancon, Olivia's mother said, "I wish I could thank each and every one of you personally for all your love and support and all the hugs from random people . I had no clue just how many people lives have been touched. I really am in shock and I want everyone to know what happened to my daughter will never happen to anyone else. We will be trying to pass the Olivia law so no other Dr. Uses forceps. If you can't deliver a baby, a c-section is what you receive. Having to look at my baby girl and all the damages done to her perfect little body is something that will stick with me for the rest of my life and the decisions I've had to make because of this mess is the hardest thing I have EVER had to do. I may have lost the life of a beautiful baby girl but she WILL live on and she WILL have her justice!"
This is the benefit page for Olivia, to help her family with all of the medical and funeral costs. This page is also to raise awareness about the use of forceps and how damaging they can be. Rachel and Allen want Olivia's story to live on forever and save other innocent infants' lives. By trying to instate "The Olivia Law", the parents hope to make the use of forceps nonexistent and hopefully illegal so that no other child suffers like their baby girl did.
There are no words to express the pain Olivia's parents and all those who love her are feeling. Please keep Olivia and her family in your prayers, as this is a time for immense healing powers to be rushed over this family.
Rachel and Allen are greatly appreciative for all of the love and support from everyone; they thank each and every one of you for your thoughts, support, and prayers.
As of today, December 31st, baby Olivia is still on life support. Though her time on earth is limited, Olivia will live on in all of our hearts forever.
