A second suspect was arrested Monday morning and police are searching for a third.
The shooting happened Friday night at the China Café at 913 Glynn Street, according to Fayetteville police.
Investigators said two of the suspects entered the restaurant and held three workers at gunpoint.
“One of the employees produced a hand gun and shot the suspect, hitting him at least once in the head,” police spokesman Lt. Mike Whitlow said. “The second suspect then shot one of the employees.”
On Monday, officers received a call from the wounded suspect’s relative. The suspect, Mr. Alonzo Starks, had died and the relative believe he may have been involved in the robbery and the shooting, Lt. Whitlow said.
The relative provided information which allowed police to identify the two other suspects: Mr. Alvin James Scott, 26, of Jonesboro and Mr. Leandro Bernard Johnson, 27, of Ellenwood.
Mr. Scott was arrested Monday morning at his home and police are still looking for Mr. Johnson. They found the body of the 25-year-old Starks in an abandoned home in Morrow.
The unidentified victim of the shooting is still in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital, he said.
