The big problem with 'Prospect Park's' revival of One Life To Live is the fact that Roger Howarth, Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson have become an integral part of General Hospital as Todd Manning, John McBain and Starr Manning. After February 8th they will not be seen on GH and fans of both soaps have been wondering what will happen to their favorites. John McBain is essential to the Port Charles aspect of the new storyline with Lucy Coe and Rafe Barrington (Kovich). Since Prospect Park owns the rights to these characters the question is which show will win? Prospect Park has finally issued the following statement:
“Prospect Park understands that General Hospital has featured Llanview transplants Michael Easton (John) and Kristen Alderson (Starr) among others while we arranged production of the new version of One Life to Live. These characters, who we own under our agreement, are obviously essential to our production efforts, and a large reason we licensed the program. We also understand that legions of General Hospital fans have grown to love these actors and characters in a short time. So even though we are paying ABC millions of dollars to license the shows, we have been, and continue to be willing to equally share the characters with General Hospital and ABC. It’s a win-win for the actors, the shows and fans, who love all of the shows and storylines. We hope to work out these agreements with ABC and the actors.” What we will all hope for is that we get double the fun of these fine actors.
In even more exciting news half of the heart of One Life To Live "Queen Victoria" the magnificent Erika Slezak sent a message through her Fan Club President,Walter Miller http://www.erikaslezak.com it stated:
“I am pleased to officially announce that, pending the final contract, I am joining the revival of One Life to Live which will be produced by Prospect Park and aired on Hulu and iTunes on the internet. We expect to begin production near the middle of March and the air dates are yet to be announced. This will be an exciting and groundbreaking adventure and we hope that you will all join us as we bring back all the characters you loved and possibly some new ones. I will let you all know when a firm air date is announced.” So grateful this shining jewel in the crown of 'Soap Diva's' will reprise her Emmy Award winning role.
And from the other half of the heart, the wonderful Robert S Woods had this to say to Soap Opera Digest about the revival “You need that to start, otherwise you don’t have a show that’s called One Life to Live and you turn it on and go, “I don’t know anybody!” But if you have Erika sitting there at her desk and Robin waltzing in, then you can go,”Oh, okay! This is it. Sparks are gonna fly.” (Laughs) Now it’s just a matter of nailing everything down.” So happy this marvelous actor will be returning.
Thom Racina, head writer for One Life to Live's revival posted a video on his Facebook page. He was giving a hint to what will be the focus of his writing for the people of Llanview. With Susie Bledsow Horgan as co head writer they have a new vision for OLTL. Exciting news.
